Redneck Hipster Vampires and the Importance of Friends.

I have two exciting things to write about in this blog today, and the first I wasn’t sure if I should bother with since it doesn’t necessarily have to do with writing, but it does have to do with the writer’s sanity. Allow me to proudly and happily declare that it is Friday, which means Pay Day, which means my Week of No Spending is over! It wasn’t easy ,and I hope I can maintain being frugal even though I have the money again, but it was also good to know that I could go a whole week without spending nothing at all.

This ties in with the rest of the post, too, because my roommate and our circle of friends haven’t had much of a chance to get out and do anything together lately, and we made the time on Tuesday to do just that (my roommate kindly footed my bill at the restaurant for me). It really is a shame that our schedules usually conflict, making it difficult for these little events to happen, but when they do…oh, man. Having great, clever and imaginative friends is a wonderful thing to have in any life, but it’s particularly nice how a certain group of people can just get you inspired with some of the zaniest things, which leads into my latest writing project, tentatively titled Redneck Hipster Vampires.

PBR: Beloved Beverage that Brings the Two Together

Clearly, this is not a serious piece, but, oh my goodness, is it fun to write! I’ve decided to dedicate my 750 Words to RHV, which means it’s coming along nicely with approximately six pages. It was originally supposed to be zombies, but, as I started writing, I realized that vampires would be much more fun, especially as our head redneck hipster vampire, BUcky, feels such an existential crisis as he craves meat so badly, yet he’s trying to be vegan! It’s light, it’s hokey, it’s tongue-in-cheek and elbow-in-the-ribs of vampire and hipster culture. It’s a whole lot of fun, and it would have never happened if I hadn’t gone out to dinner with my friends on Tuesday.

Hopefully, it won’t be long until we get a chance to do something like that again.
