Happy February, everyone! As we start to get settled into the new year, it’s time to start bringing you some of the great stories that I was honored to publish in World Unknown Review Volume III. We start this year with a yarn from an author who appeared in Volume II, Adam L. Bealby.
Last year, he brought us the story of Maggie Mayhew, a young woman with a strange memory problem, in a deeply intimate tragedy centered around the oddities of her life. This year, in “A Comedy of Edwards,” he brings us the other end of the spectrum with a down-on-his-luck comedian named, you guessed it, Edward, who is given the opportunity of a lifetime. It just happens to be a very strange opportunity, one that he finds himself embracing with gusto and finally discovering what it’s like to be one of the “good ones.”
For a while, anyway. You can’t honestly expect a good thing to hold out for too long. They say comedy is just tragedy plus time, but what if it was the other way around? The cracks begin to show, and not everything is quite as it seemed for poor Edward, who’s in for quite a shock. To find out more, head on over to the Featured Story tab and give it a read (or, of course, you can always pick up a copy of the anthology, too).
I’ve always found Adam’s stories to be just delightful and clever, and I’m sure you will too. And keep an eye out for an interview with Adam soon, so you can get to know the great author behind this great tale.
