Ready, Set, GOALS! [A RoW80 Post]

It’s been so long since I’ve participated in RoW80 that I can’t even remember the last time I did. What I do remember was that it gave me a sense of drive, purpose, and, most importantly, community that really made me feel connected to the pulse of the indie author world. For a variety of reasons, I kind of fell out with it, which worked for a little while, but, lately, I’ve been feeling so disconnected with everything. I know a good portion of it has to do with moving around a bit; we’re settled in the new place now, though. So I think I need to try to get on board and see if RoW80 can once again give me that much needed boost toward success that it gave me way back when I started it in 2012 (I think? Has it really been that long?).

The fulcrum of RoW80 has always been sets of attainable goals. Mine will be divided into Monthly, Weekly, and Daily. Here’s the breaks:

Monthly

APRIL: Finish rough draft of The Slayer Saga: Fearless
MAY: Finish second draft of The Slayer Saga: Fearless
JUNE: Get The Slayer Saga: Fearless out to some beta-readers for critiques

Weekly

Read one book and finish one story every week.

Daily

At least one social media interaction/post every day; at least one story submitted every non-work day.

Nothing here is anything too extreme; they’re all definitely things I’ve done before. I’m just hoping RoW80 gives me back the structure that allowed me to hold myself accountable in the past. I’m really looking forward to being back and getting things busted out in no time. Wish me luck! And go check out my fellow RoWers and their goals here.

    • Thanks, Chris! I’m really excited to be back, get to know some new faces, and get back in swing with the old faces I remember from the last time I participated.

    • Thank you! It’s been a struggle lately, but RoW80 has always been a good anchor in the past. I have a really good feeling about it this time around.

  1. Good luck! I’ve always been interested in RW80 but I always seem to miss it. I might use it for one of the later first drafts I plan on starting this year.

  2. Welcome back! I’ve been doing ROW80 now for about two years and it helps me stay accountable. I also love the sense of community.

    Good luck with your goals.
