Birthday Post!

Today, March 24th, 2012, marks my 28th birthday, and I think it’s going to be a pretty rocking year. 28 for me right now is an interesting age; at twenty-six, I expected that I’d be married and possibly even have a kid on the way at age twenty-eight. The indelicate hand of fate, however, decided that my life was going to go in a completely different direction than the way it was going, and that is not an exaggeration. So now I’ve spent the two years since pondering on how much life is different on your own and how it’s about high time I started living life for my dreams and actually becoming something This is the year I finally do it, because there are times when Fate will change your life, but, most of the time, you are the one in charge of what happens.

This is going to be the year I start publishing my work. The year I get out there and forge through people’s minds that I’m an author and a damn good one at that. This is the year where I start treating writing less like a dream and more like an actual job, and, even better if this year becomes the year where writing actually begins to start resembling an actual job. This is the year where I finally manage to pay off my car debt, and then it’s off to tackle my student loan debt. This year and the next are the years where I want to build myself up a platform on which to stand, because, when I get to thirty, I will be a force to be reckoned with. Time to get to business.

I don’t have any big plans for the day. I work this morning, and I intend to not worry about the petty details that bog me down there, but rather just have a good time telling people about the product I love. Afterwards, we’re having a Game of Thrones party at my apartment with a few extra birthday-inspired snacks, and that should be a good time.

So, since it’s my birthday, I spam you all with hilarious Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire pictures, all shamelessly unacredited and stolen from Tumblr:

And, randomly, to celebrate the title of my short story collection, Bowlful of Bunnies, I found a Bowlful of Terriers:

And lastly, I’d like to thank Amy and Jesco for subscribing to the blog! Welcome aboard, guys! Thanks for following!

As a personal note, I had some pondering years as well. If someone had told me five years ago that I would meet my wife, get married, have fabulous child, and move to a different country, I would have thought they were mad and laughed my ass off. But here I am.
