6 Month Challenge – Begin!

It’s October 1st, everyone, and you know what that means! Or, rather, you know what that means if you’ve been reading up on my lately or happen to be reading Sue Healy’s blog, too (if you’re not…you should!). About a week ago, Sue put out that she was going to challenge herself to write a novel in 6 months. She threw out the call for others who might light to join her, and many people, myself included, took up the call! The way Sue sees it, we’re shooting for around 80,000 words in six months, which is at least 500 words a day. She also recommends dedicating 45 minutes a day to that particular novel. Now, I don’t mean to brag or anything, but, with 750 Words, I can usually puke out 750 words in about 15 to 20 minutes, so making 500 words in 45 should be a snap. And even though I know I can make that 500 words easy-peasy, I’m still thinking of dedicating that whole 45 minutes to the novel, just to see where that gets me.

I’ve decided to work on my Phantasmagoria inspired haunted house horror. Technically speaking, I’ve already started that one, but it’s only gotten about five small pages worth, so there’s still a lot of work to go. So, likely, when this post is finished, I will be hitting up the word processor and taking a stab at it. This is also going to be a little bit different for me; I tend to prefer to write longhand rather than on my computer, but I know tracking my word count is much easier if I’m at the computer. It’s been working for 750 Words, and we’ll see how it works for this novel, and then I’ll probably be ready to pull it off for NaNoWriMo.

Lastly, but certainly not least, loads of thanks to Catie Harrell for the subscription! New followers always make my day and hopefully I’ll get a chance to return the favor!

Happy writing, everyone! Anyone else taking up Sue’s 6 Month challenge? What are you writing for it? Do tell! I love hearing what everyone else is working on, but I curse my lack of attention span to check in on everyone half the time. Arrrgggh!
